Become an e-Resident of Estonia

One of the ways to establish a corporate entity in Estonia is to become an e-Resident. E-Residency allows non-residents to gain access to Estonia’s e-services enabling to register a company through online environment and use other useful e-services that Estonia offers.

To become an e-Resident one must submit an online application along with a copy of identity documentation, brief overview of interests and motivations behind applying for e-residency and pay up the state fee. Once the application has reviewed and approved the e-Residency card can be picked up at an Estonian embassy or consulate, or in Estonia. The average time for e-Residency application process is one month.

Once an e-Resident has received the ID documents he is automatically entitled to gain access to Estonia’s e-services and shall be able to register a corporate entity electronically through the Company Registration Portal. Upon the electronic registration of a corporate entity its necessary to ascertain and enter the following:

  • Data concerning the founding members and the company to be established

  • Business name

  • Design a template for articles of association

  • Pay the state fee

  • Make a share capital contribution, if desired or compulsory

The Company Registration Portal enables to register a company also without making the share capital contribution.

Once all the corporate documents have been digitally signed, the application is forwarded to a registrar who shall confirm it within 2-3 days. After the application and registration is confirmed the corporate entity is established and included in the commercial register.
